MikoDesign - a Collection of Handscreen Printed Products from The Netherlands

Mikodesign is a small label owned by Erika Harberts. She lives in the city centre of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. After one year of fashionschool she studied textile monumental art and started making clothes and softies for her two girls (Sofia and Mila) and founded Mikodesign. Mikodesign produces a range of textile product for babies, children and women. Especially her dolls and their little accessoires are very unique. All her designs and screenprints are handmade in small quantities in her atelier in the Netherlands. Der Volksmund sagt: "Gut Ding will Weile haben". Was gut werden soll, braucht Zeit. Ein gutes Ergebnis kommt nicht von jetzt auf gleich ... wie man mit diesem Video erkennen kann! Lassen wir unseren Kindern und uns ein wenig mehr Zeit.

Little Red Stuga - Bu! "Indian" Every child's best friend.

The past weeks I've been seeing this Bu! blankie on many blogs from all over the world. Everybody loves this cute blankie for children from Sweden. For me a "Must" to present it also on our kidx blog.

Kasper and Ulrika, are the founders of "little red Stuga" and began to cooperate during their design studies at HDK in ,Sweden in 2007. "Our involvement and interest in inspiring and pedagogic play environments have gathered more people around our ideas and activities, so today we're a network of people who work both operationally and with development".  They aiming is to support children’s basic needs of activity and impressions and to keep adults young at heart. "Our ambition is to create a platform for quality design for big and small children with an international appeal and a pedagogical content."

Bu! encourages childrens’ imagination & interaction as it doubles as a peekaboo sheet. From 6-9 months babies can play their own version of peekaboo, a game that stimulates the memory. Wir gratulieren Max Kruse, dem Vater von "Urmel" zu seinen 90.Geburtstag!

Max Kruse feierte am Samstag seinen 90. Geburtstag. Er erfand Kinderbuchklassiker wie "Urmel aus dem Eis", "Der Löwe ist los" und "Don Blech". Geboren wurde Max Kruse am 19. November 1921 in Bad Kösen an der Saale. Seine  Mutter war die Puppenmacherin Käthe Kruse, der Vater der Bildhauer Max Kruse. Für die Puppen und Stofftiere seiner Mutter schrieb er auch sein erstes, 1952 veröffentlichtes Kinderbuch: "Der Löwe ist los". Nachdem er als Kind oft krank war und in dieser Zeit seine Liebe zur Literatur entdeckte, studierte Kruse bis 1943 in Jena. Nach dem Krieg baute er die Puppenwerkstätten seiner Mutter in Bad Pyrmont neu auf. Der alte Betrieb in Bad Kösen war enteignet worden. Das Unternehmen übergab er 1958 an seine Schwester und widmete sich fortan nur noch dem Schreiben.

Mehr als 50 Kinder- und Jugendbücher hat Kruse geschrieben. 1965 wurde der "Löwe" von der Augsburger Puppenkiste ins Fernsehen gebracht. Elf Bände gibt es von dem grünen, lispelnden Urmel. Die Geschichten von Urmel und seinen Freunden wurden weltweit mehr als 800 000 Mal verkauft. Unvergesslich  bleiben uns die Urmel-Geschichten aus der Augsburger Puppenkiste.
