Jane Foster Designs - Fabrics & Screen Prints/ Stoffe und Drucke

Jane Foster is an illustrator and makes fabric items and screen prints. She is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design. Her two main passions are screen printing and collecting vintage fabrics from the 50s, 60s and 70s. She has a large collection of fabrics and ceramics from these periods. Jane loves early Marimekko fabric designs and the work by Lucienne Day. She also loves the artwork by Dick Bruna and Alain Gree.

Her screen prints start off as ink drawings which are then added to screens for printing. Jane enjoys the process of drawing free hand and loves combining her screen printing with vintage fabrics. Her background was initially in music - she went to music college and then taught for years before realizing that she wasn't actually doing what she really wanted with her life. She took the scary plunge into seeing if she could make a living with her designs and it paid off. She feels incredibly lucky to be able to work from home doing what she loves - screen printing, working with fabric and making quirky, odd toys!
